From September 9–11, Pureon exhibited at the China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE) 2026 in Shenzhen, China, bringing together our expertise in diamond abrasives, grinding, lapping and polishing solutions for precision optics.
China is a key market for industries that depend on advanced surface-finishing technologies, and Shenzhen sits at the heart of this manufacturing ecosystem. In 2025, high-tech manufacturing accounted for almost 60% of the value added by Shenzhen’s large industrial enterprises, while advanced manufacturing accounted for more than 68%. The city also produced around 7.5 billion integrated circuits during the year, alongside significant volumes of displays, electronics and other high-tech products.
This concentration of advanced manufacturing makes Shenzhen a particularly relevant location. Many of these industries rely on increasingly demanding optical and high-tech components, creating a strong need for precise, reliable and efficient surface-finishing processes. Being present at CIOE allows to meet manufacturers directly, understand their evolving requirements and strengthen Pureon’s position in this important market.
Shenzhen at a glance
18.2 million people
More than twice the population of Switzerland.
China’s tech hub
A major center for technology, electronics and advanced manufacturing.
60% high-tech
Almost 60% of the city’s large-scale industrial output comes from high-tech manufacturing.
RMB 3.87 trillion GDP
One of China’s most important economic centers.
And the scale of CIOE is difficult to imagine until we compare the numbers. In 2026, the show brought together 4,060 exhibitors and almost 190,000 professional visitors across 260,000 m² of exhibition space. To put that into perspective, LASER World of PHOTONICS in Munich – already one of the world’s leading photonics trade fairs – welcomed around 44,000 visitors and 1,398 exhibitors in 2025.
Manufacturing high-precision optical components is rarely about optimizing a single polishing step. The final surface is the result of an entire process, from initial material removal and grinding to lapping and final polishing. Each step influences the next, and requirements vary depending on the material, component and target surface quality.
This is where Pureon’s approach goes beyond individual consumables. We look at the surface-finishing process as a whole and work alongside each customer to develop a solution for their specific application.
That starts with understanding the process: What material is being processed? What surface quality and geometry need to be achieved? Which equipment is being used? Where are the current limitations in terms of removal rate, flatness, consistency or surface finish?
Based on these requirements, our specialists can combine expertise across diamond abrasives, suspensions, grinding and polishing pads, and polishing solutions to identify where improvements can be made. At CIOE, this broad portfolio was represented by products including diamond powders and suspensions, grinding and polishing pads, ULTRA-SOL® polishing solutions and SPARKLING diamond compounds.
The goal is not simply to supply the right product for one process step. It is to work together with manufacturers to optimize the complete surface-finishing process, finding the right combination of products and process parameters for their individual application.
That is also where Pureon’s broad portfolio becomes a real advantage: instead of optimizing one consumable in isolation, we can consider how the different elements of the process work together to achieve the required final surface.
Beyond presenting products, CIOE provided valuable opportunities to meet existing customers, establish new contacts and discuss current manufacturing challenges directly with specialists from across the industry.
“CIOE brings a large part of the industry together in one place. It gives us the opportunity to understand what customers are working on, discuss their challenges directly and identify where Pureon can support their processes. For us in China, this direct exchange makes CIOE an important event.”
Manson Chen, Pureon
The strong response throughout the three-day exhibition reinforced the importance of being close to our customers in China and combining local market knowledge with Pureon’s global surface-finishing expertise.
